Russia to Halt Gas Supplies to Armenia for Scheduled Maintenance

Russia will temporarily suspend natural gas supplies to Armenia for scheduled maintenance and repair work on the Northern Caucasus–Transcaucasia trunk gas pipeline. The suspension is set to take place from September 15 to 25. Gazprom Armenia has assured that domestic reserves and additional natural gas volumes from Iran will ensure uninterrupted gas supply to consumers during this period. This move comes amid strained relations between Moscow and Yerevan, with Russia accusing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of pursuing a pro-Western course. Armenia is looking for alternatives to Russian gas, with Pashinyan stating that the country sees the largest markup in gas pricing compared to other countries. Russia has offered Armenia a preferential gas price if Yerevan decides to leave the Eurasian Economic Union.
