Marc Marquez Wins San Marino Sprint, Closes Gap to Championship Leader

Marc Marquez pulled off a perfect getaway to win the San Marino Grand Prix sprint, beating Marco Bezzecchi and closing to within 14 points of MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin. Bezzecchi had taken pole position with a lap record, but Marquez's Ducati had the perfect launch off the line, allowing him to storm into the lead. Marquez never looked back, working for his win as Bezzecchi initially matched his pace before Marquez found another gear to pull clear. Bezzecchi was initially faster in the early stages, but Marquez built a lead of over a second by the halfway stage. Marquez set a race lap record on the penultimate lap before taking the chequered flag.
