Police Deploy 10,000 Volunteers and CCTV in Nationwide Safe School Initiative

During a flag‑off ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu announced the launch of the Police Community Relations Committee’s Safe School Initiative. The program mobilised 10,000 volunteers to support security efforts and began deploying CCTV cameras in schools across the country. Disu assured parents that children are now safer in schools, citing the combined presence of police, community volunteers, and surveillance technology as key deterrents to violence and misconduct. The initiative follows growing concerns over school safety and aims to create a visible, coordinated security presence that can respond quickly to incidents. The deployment of cameras will provide continuous monitoring, while volunteers will assist in maintaining order and reporting suspicious activity.
