Cyprus Sheep and Goat Producers Seek Deadline Extension

The union of sheep and goat producers in Cyprus has requested Agriculture Minister Christos Senekis to extend the deadline for conducting animal inventory by at least one month. The union cited the large number of farms and animals that need to undergo genotyping, as well as limited Veterinary Services staff, as reasons for the request. In Limassol alone, there are approximately 80 farms with 14,000 animals requiring the genotyping process. The union also emphasized the need to strengthen the Veterinary Services with additional staff, pointing out that further delays have emerged due to measures implemented to address the foot and mouth outbreak.
