Slack Launches AI‑Powered “Surfaces” to Build Interactive Content in Chat
WHY IT MATTERS
Slackforce Surfaces centralizes data creation and discussion, reducing context switching and enabling real‑time collaboration on analytics and presentations within the familiar Slack workspace.
What happened
Slack announced Slackforce Surfaces, a new AI‑driven feature that lets users create interactive reports, dashboards, polls, presentations, and microsites directly within a Slack conversation. By describing the desired content to Slackbot, the system pulls data from relevant messages and connected apps such as Google Drive or Salesforce, automatically generating the requested surface.
Once created, the surface can be shared, pinned to channels, and interacted with by teammates, who can view, comment, and engage with the embedded content. Slack demonstrated the capability by generating an arcade‑themed visualization of AI token usage on demand.
The feature aims to streamline collaboration by keeping data and analysis inside the chat environment.
