Somalia's Food Security Concerns Persist Amid Reduced Coverage

A recent IPC analysis in Somalia, conducted by the Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit, has revealed ongoing food security concerns across the country. The analysis, which involved 153 participants from various institutions, including government, UN agencies, NGOs, and technical partners, covered 19,442,156 people, representing the total population of Somalia used for humanitarian planning purposes. The IPC analysis process was organized by the IPC TWG, with technical support from the IPC Global Support Unit and financial support from FAO and WFP. Due to funding constraints, the assessments covered fewer areas than previously, with results from similar livelihoods and previous assessments used in accordance with IPC protocol. The analysis period considered the seasonality of food security and nutrition outcomes in Somalia, with the IPC AFI current analysis covering July-September 2026 and the IPC AMN current analysis covering June-September 2026. The IPC AFI and IPC AMN projection analysis will cover October-December 2026.
