Spanish Super Cup Moves to Istanbul Due to Asian Cup Clash

The 2027 Spanish Super Cup will be held in Istanbul from February 2-7, 2027, according to the Turkish Football Federation. The decision was driven by a scheduling clash with the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, not by security concerns. Spanish football federation president Rafael Louzan stated that negotiations to move the competition began before the latest regional tensions, as organisers knew the dates would coincide with the Asian Cup. The financial terms for the Istanbul edition will remain broadly the same as under the existing arrangement, with "some improvements". Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Sociedad, and Atletico Madrid are satisfied with the arrangement, and the Spanish federation has thanked Besiktas, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce for providing stadiums and infrastructure.
