Blind Drummer Cassie Li Pui-ying Performs at Hong Kong's Queen Elizabeth Stadium
WHY IT MATTERS
It demonstrates how inclusive arts programs empower visually impaired performers and inspire broader community engagement.
What happened
Cassie Li Pui-ying, a blind musician who underwent a seven‑hour surgery in Hong Kong in 2025, took the stage at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on a March night organized by Live Theatre. The event drew more than 2,500 spectators, who applauded her performance even though she could not see the audience.
Li sang, spoke, and played the drums, showcasing her resilience and talent. Live Theatre, co‑run by her mother Marine Mak, provides a platform for visually impaired students to perform publicly.
The concert highlighted the community’s support for artists with disabilities and celebrated Li’s recovery and artistic achievements.
