Sudan's Agrifood Systems Resilience Project Boosts Stakeholder Engagement
WHY IT MATTERS
The BOOST project's SEP aims to ensure that the project benefits all stakeholders, particularly vulnerable groups, and addresses key environmental and social risks in Sudan's fragile and changing context.
What happened
The World Food Programme's Boosting Agrifood Systems Resilience in Sudan (BOOST) project has established a Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) to ensure inclusive and conflict-sensitive engagement across the project lifecycle. The SEP aligns with the African Development Bank's Integrated Safeguards System and addresses key environmental and social risks, including land and resource-related conflict, exclusion of vulnerable groups, and environmental degradation.
Stakeholder engagement will be continuous and adapted to the context, using methods such as community consultations, dialogues, and participatory approaches. The project will also provide accessible channels for questions, feedback, and complaints, and will track cases and issues requiring follow-up.
Implementation will be coordinated by the World Food Programme, with support from government and technical authorities, extension services, and community structures.
