Sudan WASH Cluster Launches Assessment Strategy to Strengthen Humanitarian Response

The Sudan WASH Cluster has launched a new assessment strategy to improve the quality and comparability of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) information in the country. The strategy aims to promote harmonized assessments, routine monitoring, and integrated analysis of needs, service functionality, and public health risks. To achieve this, the cluster will strengthen systems such as the WASH Insecurity Analysis (WIA) and Light Touch Monitoring. These tools will support evidence-based decision-making, prioritization, preparedness, service restoration, and recovery planning across Sudan. The strategy is a coordinated framework to strengthen evidence generation, analysis, and use across the humanitarian WASH response. It will help to improve the effectiveness of WASH interventions and ultimately reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and other health hazards.
