What happened
Suno has released its first AI music model built with direct support from the record industry. The new v6 model was trained from scratch on a data set that excludes the data used for earlier versions.
The training set now contains licensed content from Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe, in addition to user‑generated data. Suno’s CEO, Jack Brody, confirmed that the model is free of the previously problematic data sources, though it remains unclear whether all content is entirely free of dubious origins.
The v6 release introduces three distinct variants: the full‑feature v6, a more experimental v6‑wild, and a lightweight v6‑mini. The mini version is offered at no cost to all users and is optimized for speed and low‑resource deployment, making AI‑generated music more accessible to independent creators and hobbyists alike.
