What happened
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) has released a report revising the Minimum Expenditure Basket (MEB) for Syria. The revised MEB reflects both essential needs and economic realities faced by households in the country.
A hybrid methodology was employed, combining rights-based humanitarian standards with household expenditure patterns and market conditions.
The analysis relied on data from the World Food Programme's 2025 Food Security Assessment and was validated against Sphere Standards and qualitative inputs from relevant sectors.
