Tado Launches Smart Thermostat X to Challenge Nest in Europe
WHY IT MATTERS
Tado's new thermostat may gain traction in Europe as users of discontinued Nest models look for alternatives, potentially expanding the company's market share in the region.
What happened
Tado, a German-based smart home company, has launched its second-generation Smart Thermostat X, aiming to attract European users of Nest thermostats. The move comes after Google's exit from the European thermostat market last year, which led to significant sales for Tado.
Tado's cofounder and managing director, Christian Deilmann, believes the third-generation Nest still has a strong presence in Europe, but sees a potential opportunity for Tado to gain market share.
The Smart Thermostat X is designed as a Matter-over-Thread thermostat, a technology that allows for seamless integration with other smart home devices.
