Cyprus Begins Weekly Talks on Second Pillar of Pension Reform

Labour Minister Marinos Mousiouttas announced that technical committee meetings on the second pillar of Cyprus’s pension reform will commence on Tuesday, October 6, and will recur weekly. The committee will discuss the new pillar’s framework before the Labour Advisory Body, which meets every Monday and Thursday, reviews progress. Mousiouttas said the goal is to reach a framework agreement that can be presented to parliament, with the full pension reform bill expected to be tabled within days, though no separate second‑pillar bill will be submitted at this stage. He noted that implementing the second pillar will take three to four years and that legislation will only be drafted once consensus is achieved. The advisory body’s meetings will pause on October 1 and 19 due to the minister’s absence.
