India Prioritises Bumrah’s Red‑Ball Workload Ahead of New Zealand Tests
WHY IT MATTERS
Ensuring Bumrah’s readiness for the Test series is vital for India’s bowling attack, potentially influencing the outcome of the high‑stakes matches against New Zealand.
What happened
India’s management has decided that pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not feature in the upcoming five‑match ODI series against New Zealand. Instead, the fast‑bowling star is slated to play a single India A match before joining the Test squad for the series against the Kiwis.
The decision reflects a focus on Bumrah’s red‑ball responsibilities, with the ODI and Test squads expected to be announced in the coming days.
The move underscores the team’s strategy to manage Bumrah’s workload and maximise his effectiveness in the longer format.
