Cyprus Launches €3 Million Tourist Infrastructure Project in Akamas

The forestry department in Cyprus has announced a €3 million project to develop tourist infrastructure in the Akamas region, including carparks, kiosks, and shops. The project aims to serve the thousands of visitors while protecting the sensitive ecosystems of the national forest park. The revised plan reduces the number of information and recreation points from 14 to six, leaving a smaller environmental footprint and minimizing visual nuisance. The project will be co-funded by the EU's Thalia programme and is expected to be completed in approximately three years. The forestry department is seeking advisors to research, plan, and prepare the technical specifications for the project, with a budget of €180,000.
