World Vision Closes Three-Year Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine
WHY IT MATTERS
This humanitarian mission highlights the importance of collaboration and adaptability in responding to complex crises, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
What happened
World Vision's three-year humanitarian mission in Ukraine has come to a close, marking a significant effort to support conflict-affected populations. The programme, backed by the United States Government, Acted Ukraine, and the Ukraine Response Consortium, reached 270,091 people, including 86,754 children, with an integrated response of cash assistance, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) support, shelter rehabilitation, and specialised child protection.
The mission operated in high-risk environments, adapting protocols to establish humanitarian access to isolated villages. Local partners, including Arms of Mercy, Youth Movement Be Free, the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health (UFPH), and Divchata, played a crucial role in delivering aid.
The programme's success was marked by its ability to adapt and respond to the needs of the community, with a focus on transparency, dignity, and consistency.
