Navigating Cruise Ship Tipping Culture
WHY IT MATTERS
Knowing how to navigate cruise ship tipping culture can save you money and ensure that your hard-earned tips go to the right people. By understanding the big picture, you can make informed decisions about your vacation budget and avoid any potential surprises.
What happened
Cruise lines often automatically add service fees to passenger bills, but many travelers still hand out additional cash gratuities. The extra cost of these charges can be a shock to first-time cruisers, with some lines charging up to $25 per day.
However, not all lines have service fees that high, and some don't charge them at all.
Understanding the tipping culture on a cruise can help you budget for your vacation appropriately.
