Transmission Line Outages Reduce Power Allocations to Lagos, Abuja and Northern Nigeria

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) reported that a series of transmission line faults have limited the national grid’s capacity, prompting a reduction in electricity allocations to distribution companies in Lagos, Abuja and northern regions. The outages forced NISO to alter generation dispatch and reallocate power to maintain grid stability. As a result, consumers in these key areas are receiving lower supply levels than scheduled. NISO is working to restore the affected lines and adjust dispatch plans to mitigate the impact on the affected distribution networks.
