Tampa Pulls Out of TSA’s Gold+ Private Screening Pilot

On August 24, Tampa International Airport (TPA) announced it would not participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s planned Gold+ program, a private security screening initiative aimed at bolstering resilience during federal operational disruptions. Tampa had been one of the first three airports selected to test the new system, which was designed to streamline passenger processing and reduce bottlenecks when traditional TSA operations face challenges. The decision follows the TSA’s broader decision to discontinue the Gold+ rollout, underscoring a shift toward alternative private security models.
