Venezuela Earthquake Relief Efforts Continue Amid Ongoing Challenges

The ongoing relief efforts in Venezuela highlight the need for sustained support to address the long-term consequences of natural disasters, particularly in ensuring access to essential health services for vulnerable populations.
What happened
Two months after the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, affected communities are still facing significant challenges in accessing basic necessities like housing, healthcare, and clean water. The country's health system is under pressure due to damaged facilities, medicine shortages, and a lack of healthcare personnel.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is working to support the continuity of essential health services, particularly sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. To this end, UNFPA has been supporting 16 health facilities and distributing essential reproductive health supplies, benefiting an estimated 32,727 people.
Additionally, UNFPA and its partners have provided SRH and GBV services to 6,840 people across four transitional shelters, and reached 4,796 people with SRH and GBV awareness and information sessions.
