UNHCR expands primary healthcare for refugees and host communities in Ethiopia, operating 26 health centers, 2 health posts and 2 mobile posts across seven regions. The agency partners with government institutions and implementing partners to deploy qualified staff, secure continuous supplies of essential medicines, and provide comprehensive primary care. Facilities serve both refugees and local residents, while UNHCR facilitates access to secondary and tertiary referral services. The program is active in Gambella, Somali, Benishangul‑Gumuz, Afar, Addis Ababa, Amhara and South Omo. By integrating refugee health services into the national system, UNHCR strengthens overall health system capacity and improves equitable access to care.
