UNIC Medical School Honours Dr Nikos Ioannou with Annual Scientific Lecture

The University of Nicosia Medical School will host its first annual scientific lecture in memory of Dr Nikos Ioannou on October 5, 2026. The lecture, delivered by Professor George N. Ioannou, will examine the changes in liver cancer incidence and treatment over recent decades. Dr Ioannou, a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, passed away in June 2025 at the age of 88. He served as President of the Pancyprian Medical Association and the first President of the Health Insurance Organisation, contributing to Cyprus' General Healthcare System. The lecture aims to keep Dr Ioannou's memory and legacy alive, while fostering scientific dialogue on contemporary medical issues.
