Venezuela Earthquake Relief Efforts Continue Amid Ongoing Challenges

The International Organization for Migration (OIM) has continued its multisectoral response to the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela, focusing on camps and affected communities. Key highlights include the provision of 314 health and mental health consultations, 200 hygiene kits, and 200 cleaning kits. The OIM also coordinated the distribution of 146 plastic tarps, 73 cooking sets, and 65 hygiene supplies. In addition, the organization organized a Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) training in the Ezequiel Zamora camp, attended by 44 community representatives, authorities, and site management actors. The OIM continued to monitor and coordinate water, sanitation, and hygiene services in the camps, with a focus on preparation for heavy rainfall and maintenance of the water treatment plant. Health services, including regular medical and psychological consultations, were also maintained. The OIM continued to provide legal orientation, psychosocial support, case management, and referrals through its protection teams and partner HIAS. The organization also updated demographic information in César Nieves and registered the arrival of three new families in Mare Abajo II through the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).
