Cordillera’s 5th Festival of Festivals Unites Six Provinces in Baguio
WHY IT MATTERS
The festival spotlights the Cordillera’s cultural diversity and reinforces regional unity, while guiding tourism to benefit local communities without commodifying their heritage.
What happened
On October 17, 2026, more than 500 performers from the Cordillera’s six provinces and two cities converged on Baguio’s Session Road for the 5th Cordillera Festival of Festivals. Each region showcased its signature celebration—Abra’s Kawayan Festival, Apayao’s Say‑am, Benguet’s Bindiyan, Ifugao’s Gotad ad Ifugao, Kalinga’s Tachok‑Salip, Mountain Province’s Lang‑ay, Baguio’s Panagbenga, and Tabuk City’s Gabbok—displaying chants, dances, and agricultural symbols that honor ancestry, gratitude, and community.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong highlighted that even long‑time residents still have much to learn about one another’s customs.
The Department of Tourism underscored that the event is not merely a spectacle but a living expression of identity, urging tourism to support local livelihoods while respecting Indigenous cultures.
