What happened
A workshop caught fire at the Proton-PM engine-building complex in the village of Novye Lyady, in Perm's Sverdlovsk district. The open flame was reportedly extinguished by around 11 a. m.
local time. The cause of the fire remains unknown, with Ukrainian monitoring channels posting photos but not specifying a cause.
Proton-PM representatives have declined to comment on the situation. The Proton-PM plant is part of an integrated structure for manufacturing rocket engines, alongside NPO Energomash, and is one of the largest enterprises in Russia's rocket and space industry.
