Global Protection Cluster Sees Rise in Support Requests for GBV and Child Protection

The Global Protection Cluster (GPC) has reported a significant increase in support requests for gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection between January and June 2026. According to the GPC's Interagency Field Support Trends Overview, a total of 556 support requests were addressed during this period, with 192 of them focusing on GBV and child protection. The GPC tracks requests from country protection clusters, global partners, and other coordination platforms. Partners, task teams, and experts provided joint support to the GPC team in addressing these requests. The report highlights the growing need for protection services in these areas, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts to address the complex challenges faced by vulnerable populations. The GPC's support requests are a critical indicator of the humanitarian needs on the ground, and the rising numbers suggest a pressing need for increased support and resources to address GBV and child protection concerns.
