Jobstreet Connect Showcases AI Digital Twin and New Hiring Tools
WHY IT MATTERS
The event underscores how AI is reshaping HR practices, raising critical questions about transparency, accountability, and the balance between automation and human judgment in hiring.
What happened
At Jobstreet Connect, more than 200 business leaders and HR practitioners witnessed an AI‑powered preview of the future of workplace technology. Before the keynote speaker appeared, a digital twin of ASEAMETRICS CEO Liza Manalo‑Mapagu—created with Synthesia—introduced herself, emphasizing that the avatar’s purpose is to scale her voice, not replace it.
Manalo‑Mapagu later explained that the twin is a tool to extend her advocacy on AI, but she insists on transparency, labeling the avatar and maintaining accountability for its content. The conference also unveiled Jobstreet’s new AI engine, seekAi, which can rank applicants, recommend recruiter actions, automate reference checks, and conduct pre‑screening voice interviews.
Manalo‑Mapagu noted that AI interviewers can be patient and consistent, yet she stresses that human recruiters must ultimately make consequential decisions. DITO Telecommunity HR chief Holy Ampaguey likened AI onboarding to hiring a new colleague, suggesting clear job descriptions, a code of conduct, a supervisor, a probationary period, and performance reviews.
