Microsoft Announces Project Helix Will Be a Device Family
WHY IT MATTERS
The move to a device family signals Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate hardware and digital services, potentially reshaping the console market and expanding its ecosystem.
What happened
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that Project Helix, announced in March as Microsoft’s next‑generation console, will actually be a "family" of devices rather than a single unit. Sharma told BBC News that the company has been working on a broad range of Helix products and will share more details soon.
She did not address whether the new line will be disc‑less.
Microsoft also revealed a program to digitize physical games, and in 2025 the company and AMD announced a strategic multi‑year partnership to collaborate on future technologies.
