Yemen's Humanitarian Crisis Escalates Amid Renewed Fighting in Western Regions
WHY IT MATTERS
Yemen’s civilians face escalating violence, displacement and shortages of basic services, while aid funding lags. Immediate donor action is essential to prevent a humanitarian collapse.
What happened
Action For Humanity warns that Yemen’s humanitarian situation could worsen after a new surge of fighting across western Yemen. In the past 24 hours, military activity intensified around Mocha, Dhubab and the Bab al‑Mandab strait, heightening the risk of civilian harm and further displacement.
Since August, more than 174,000 people have fled their homes, and the strain on food, water, sanitation and health services is mounting. The organisation’s teams are on the ground, ready to deliver emergency food, cash, water‑and‑sanitation support and shelter to newly displaced communities.
However, funding remains critically low, and Action For Humanity urges donors to step up to keep life‑saving aid flowing.
