Yemen: Shelling in Taiz Frontlines Drives 1,790 Households Displaced

In the early hours of Thursday, 3 September, hostilities intensified along the Taiz frontlines, with heavy shelling and clashes in Maqbanah and Jabal Habashi districts. Since that day, an estimated 1,790 households have been forced to leave their homes, with many still moving within the two districts and others arriving in Al Ma'afer, Ash Shamayatayn, Mawza and Dubab. Entire internally displaced person sites—Al‑Hajab, Al‑Rajehi and Hajjat Gabeh—have emptied, creating large‑scale secondary displacement. Ongoing shelling limits families’ ability to reach safer areas, and some remain stranded on the frontlines. Telecommunications outages hinder information gathering and coordination, while emergency stocks of shelter, non‑food items and food are severely depleted.
