What happened
According to the International Organization for Migration's Flow Monitoring Registry, a total of 11,397 migrants entered Yemen in August 2026, marking a 17% decrease from the 13,687 migrants tracked in July 2026. The majority of migrants, around 63%, arrived from Djibouti, with the majority entering through Abyan governorate.
Somalia was the second-largest source of migrants, accounting for 33% of the inflow, with all migrants arriving through Shabwah governorate. A smaller number of migrants, 4%, arrived from Oman, mainly to the Shahin district of Al Maharah governorate.
Demographically, the flow comprised 63% men, 18% women, and 19% children. Meanwhile, 1,666 migrants left Yemen, with the majority departing for Obock, Djibouti, from Lahj governorate.
