Escalating Conflict in Yemen Displaces Thousands
WHY IT MATTERS
The escalating conflict in Yemen has resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis, with thousands displaced and essential services overstretched.
What happened
Armed hostilities in Taiz Governorate have led to significant population displacement in Yemen. By September 7, nearly 40,000 people had been displaced, with movements continuing.
The majority of new displacements occurred in Taiz, Al Hodeidah, and Lahj governorates. The Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management has registered 6,269 newly displaced households, representing approximately 44,149 people, across these governorates.
The displacement has put pressure on shelter, water, sanitation, health, and basic service capacity in affected and receiving areas.
