Yemen Hostilities Trigger 15,400 New Displacements, Block Key Roads

On 3 September, fighting flared across Taiz, the West Coast and Aden hubs—Hays, Al Khukha, Al Mukha, Mawza, Alwazyah, Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, Almaafer and Almadharibah—causing a sharp spike in new and secondary displacement. The Cluster reports about 15,400 newly displaced households, a figure that fluctuates daily as hostilities continue. Access to relief sites has been severely constrained: the Taiz–Al Makha road is disrupted, the main route to Maqbanah is blocked, and clashes now occupy the road between Al Makha and Aden. Telecommunications outages further hinder verification and real‑time tracking of displaced populations. The sudden influx of people places additional pressure on already strained receiving sites, complicating the delivery of shelter, food and medical assistance.
