American Airlines and Starlux Launch Codeshare, Expanding U.S.-Taiwan Connectivity

American Airlines has begun a codeshare partnership with Taiwanese start‑up Starlux, effective September 30. Under the agreement, passengers can book a single ticket that includes an American flight from a U. S. city to a U. S. hub and a Starlux flight to or from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport. Starlux flight numbers will appear on 26 American domestic routes to LAX and PHX, with the possibility of expansion. The move builds on an existing interline agreement that allowed baggage to be checked through to the final destination. While the partnership does not yet offer mileage accrual or elite benefits, it opens a new U. S. –Asia corridor and could lay groundwork for a deeper alliance, including potential Oneworld membership for Starlux.
