Alaska Airlines Cuts Lap Infant Fees on International Award Flights

Alaska Airlines has revised its Atmos Rewards program to eliminate the 10% fee that previously applied to lap infants on long‑haul international award tickets. Under the new rule, infants under two who travel on the passenger’s lap will only incur the standard government taxes and fees when the award is issued on “027” stock—meaning the ticket is issued by Alaska or Hawaiian. The change applies to all partner carriers, including British Airways, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Icelandair and Starlux, while domestic Alaska and Hawaiian award flights remain free for lap infants. Travelers must add the infant by calling Atmos Rewards. The update removes potentially thousands of dollars in extra cost for families using points for business‑class redemptions.
