NASA Launches State Hubs Initiative to Build Tomorrow’s Space Workforce

NASA kicked off its State Hubs for Skilled Technical Workforce initiative on Sept. 15, 2026 at Space Center Houston. The agency awarded seven state projects—California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas, and Utah—to design programs that match local aerospace industry needs. At the launch, NASA leaders, state and federal partners, and industry representatives reviewed each Hub’s strategy, discussed workforce gaps, and set goals for scaling job programs and correcting misconceptions about manufacturing roles. In the coming months, Hub awardees will finalize their approaches and begin delivering tailored training, tools, and resources that connect students with hands‑on experiences and credentials needed to enter well‑paid technical jobs. The effort aims to strengthen coordination among industry, community colleges, and economic development agencies, ensuring a pipeline of career‑ready workers to support NASA’s missions and sustain America’s leadership in space.
