T-Mobile CFO Dismisses Starlink's Mobile Industry Challenge

T-Mobile's Chief Financial Officer, Peter Osvaldik, has expressed skepticism about SpaceX's Starlink Mobile plan, calling it 'not a serious wireless threat'. Osvaldik criticized SpaceX's changing strategy and proposed infrastructure plans, citing the physical limitations of satellites in urban environments. He noted that satellites can block signals, making them impractical for widespread use. T-Mobile also questioned the feasibility of SpaceX's plan to deploy numerous small cell stations. According to Osvaldik, Starlink's challenge to traditional telecom operators is not currently convincing. The comments come as SpaceX continues to develop its satellite-based mobile network, which aims to provide internet and phone services to remote areas.
