NASA Captures All-Night View of Perseid Meteor Shower

Astronomers at the Valašské Meziříčí Observatory in Czechia recorded the peak activity of the 2026 Perseid Meteor Shower on August 12-13. Images from four dedicated meteor-monitoring cameras were combined to create an all-night, all-sky view. The total count came to 1,706 meteors, with most being Perseids. Their trails can be seen tracing back to a single radiant in the constellation Perseus. Other meteors from less active showers, such as the Kappa Cygnids, can also be identified by finding their radiants. The antihelion complex, a region near Aquarius, is a weak source for meteors.
