Apple Limits New Texture and Grain Controls to Latest iPhones

Apple’s recent announcement of texture and grain controls for photo stylization, introduced with the iPhone 18 and 18 Pro, has been clarified to apply only to the newest models. A press release earlier this month suggested that older devices such as the iPhone 16 and iPhone Air would also receive the features, but the wording was ambiguous. In reality, the full suite of texture adjustments—used to smooth or enhance a subject’s skin—and the film‑grain option will be available only on phones equipped with the latest generation of Photographic Styles. As a result, users of older iPhones will not gain the same level of control over these new stylizing tools, limiting their photo‑editing options until a future software update or hardware upgrade.
