Apple Eyes 2029 AI Server Powered by M‑Series Ultra Chips

Apple is developing a new enterprise server that will use its high‑performance M‑series Ultra chips, the same processors that power the Mac Studio and Mac mini. The server, slated for a 2029 launch, will be offered in two models, each featuring either two or four of the forthcoming M8 Ultra chips. The project, which began a year ago, received backing from Apple’s new CEO John Ternus, who previously led the company’s hardware engineering. The move comes as AI developers increasingly turn to Apple’s M‑series machines for training and inference workloads, driving strong sales of the Mac mini and Mac Studio. If released, the server would mark Apple’s first dedicated server product in almost twenty years and could give the company a foothold in the growing AI infrastructure market.
