NASA Invites Public to Help Refine Data from Space Telescopes

NASA has launched a new project, Artifact InSPECtor, which invites the public to help refine data from space telescopes. The project aims to improve the accuracy of data collected by the Euclid space telescope and the upcoming Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. Volunteers will learn how to recognize artifacts in data, such as signals from things other than real astronomical objects, and verify whether artificial intelligence tools have correctly identified them. The work will be used to improve the instructions guiding the AI tool, allowing it to better distinguish between real and artificial signals. By participating in Artifact InSPECtor, volunteers can contribute to the discovery of the mysteries of dark energy and the expansion of the universe.
